Fear of Money

Time is money png sticker

Many people might be afraid to talk about money. But why so? They may have a fear of money.

We often associate money with power, fame, indulgence and perhaps a misplaced love, rather than a love for God.

But adjust your thinking toward money being a simple measure of value, and now it’s not the enemy anymore, but a useful tool.

Many Christians may be afraid to appear wanting more money, or having an abundance on earth.

But money is just a measure of value, and value can be measured in many different forms or converted from one form to another.

You can build, store and use value in any of 9 different forms.

Spiritual, Living, Intellectual, Experiential, Social, Cultural, Material, Financial, Time.

Spiritual capital encapsulates all other forms of capital.

So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:33 (ESV)

Meanwhile, Time is required for investing in any other form of capital.

making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:16 (ESV)

Don’t be afraid to talk about building, storing and using any of the stores of value in the list above.

Christians love God more than anything in the world, including anything in the above list.  Do not afraid of or diminish the need for or usefulness of anyone one of these forms, and that includes money.

Consider again the greatest commandment, and see how nothing is left out of God’s care for our stewardship.

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Deuteronomy 6:5 (ESV)

One of the marks of an abundant mindset is being happy to share with and learn from others on how to create value in terms of finances, as well as any other form.

Think of dollars as receipts of value.  Focus on the value.  Then manage that value to the glory of God as a good steward.
