A Theology of Living

It’s impossible to separate Theology from Christian living. The goal of every spiritual teacher throughout scripture was never to pack spiritual facts into your brain without a change in your actions. It was always to impact your living. How your beliefs determine what you do is a theology of living.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:1–2 (ESV)

What is the “therefore” there for?  After 11 chapters of theological truth, the apostle Paul appeals to the church to present your body as a living sacrifice.

This means your spiritual worship is always manifested in your physical body. It’s the life you live, what you learn, the actions you take, your interactions with others, your participation in society, the things you buy, the money you manage, and ultimately how you manage your time on this earth.

What God wants for your life

When you learn theology by the renewal of your mind, you can then discern what is the will of God by testing everything in your physical life by God’s standards, and then living accordingly.

That is the good life, is acceptable and the standard of perfection. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Though you will not and cannot live perfectly on this earth, when you know Christ, you will be made perfect in the New Heavens and the New Earth.

But whether here or there, your physical life is an act of worship. You will either worship and serve the creation. Or you will be conformed and transformed to His precepts and statutes. When you know the way, the truth and the life in Christ Jesus, it will lead you to holistic Christian living at its core.

And that my friend, is the holistic approach to wealth from a Christian worldview.

Question: What’s the chief end of man?

Answer: Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
